Since 1982, the Permanent Drama Workshop (OPT), organized by the Arts and Culture Department (DAC), has offered actor training activities at UFSC.

The workshop aims to provide participants with both theoretical study and practical experience in the performing arts. It follows a core curriculum entitled “de como ser para representar ou ser”.

Each group develops a theatrical production according to its own artistic interests and dynamics. Depending on the group’s profile, the experience may involve street theater, mime, productions of classical plays, or other forms of performance. After completing this stage, participants who discover a genuine interest in theater may join the cast of the UFSC Teatro Novo Research Group.
