Em Cena [On Stage] Project
For more than four decades, the UFSC Carmen Fossari Theater has hosted theatrical productions from Florianópolis and across the state of Santa Catarina. Reopened in 2022 under its current name, in tribute to the actress and theater director Carmen Fossari, who dedicated her life to theater at UFSC, the venue continues to promote artistic and cultural exchange between the University and the wider community through the Em Cena (On Stage) Project.
The project seeks to encourage and support theatrical and artistic production in the state while making cultural activities more accessible to the community.
The participating groups are selected by a committee of theater professionals from the Arts and Culture Department (DAC). The selection process takes into account each group’s artistic trajectory, the investigative nature of its theatrical work, and the recognition of its productions by both the artistic community and the general public.
The selected productions represent a wide range of theatrical forms, including circus, drama, performance, comedy and puppet theatre, among others. Performances take place throughout the year.
