Segue Reto Toda Vida – Running and Walking Group

The “Segue Reto Toda Vida” (Keep Going Straight Ahead) Running and Walking Group is a free outreach project organized by UFSC staff members of the Office of Culture, Arts, and Sports (SeCArtE). Its aim is to promote physical activity at the University while strengthening ties among students, staff and members of the wider community.

Active since 2024, the group grew out of previous physical conditioning initiatives at UFSC. Running was chosen because it is an accessible, low-cost activity that offers numerous health benefits, including improved sleep quality, reduced anxiety, the prevention of respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, and enhanced mobility.

Training sessions are held weekly on the track at the School of Sports (CDS) and last one hour. Supervised by an undergraduate Physical Education student serving as an intern, the sessions are planned according to each participant’s fitness level and personal goals. Participants are also encouraged to socialize before and after each session, sharing experiences and motivating one another to maintain a regular training routine.

Registration opens at the beginning of each semester and is announced on the SeCArtE website.
